Synopsis
1645, in an England rent by Civil War, Lord General Thomas Fairfax (Dougray Scott) and his loyal but ruthless deputy, Oliver Cromwell (Tim Roth), have overthrown King Charles I (Rupert Everett), put him under house arrest, and aim to rebuild England. Increasingly torn between his loyalty to his king, his comrade, and wife, Lady Anne (Olivia Williams), Fairfax wants a more egalitarian government, but eventually conspires to return the King to power. Cromwell's plans are far more radical and bloody, and his armies spread violence and fear throughout the country. Boasting strong performances by the three leads, To Kill a King is an exciting historical drama of friendship, love, and political intrigue, about two heroes of a revolution at odds about the future.
